Do you look forward to ads?
Thinking of watching some tonight on a big TV?
Enjoying them on Instagram, fb and threads?
Flipping through newspapers to read advertising copy?
No? Didn’t think so
But you’re hooked to media
So of course, that’s where ads will go
They’ll largely be ignored – they have no idea

Most are boring and crass
But don't many products still sell?
Despite ads treating the customer like a dumbass?
Yes – product quality, pricing and distribution helps
But instead of just noise,
Could your ads make an impact?
Have consistency and poise?
Be based on brand strategy, personality and facts?
Absolutely, ads don’t have to be crap
They’ve to be brilliant because they are an interruption
If not to guys like me, listen to Bill Bernbach
On how ads need to be relevant as well as get attention

Your brand, like a person, must stand for something
Not entirely depend on influencers or celebrities
Should your brand’s personality be fake and irritating?
Then your ads need to be unique and cool, yet have authenticity
Sure, the whole marketing mix is important
And performance marketing and algorithms get you conversions
But short-term sales isn’t enough to edge out competition
Your brand, in the long term, needs the art of persuasion.
